Mackay Karate Centre

Our dojo warmly welcomes people of all ages and caters from beginner level to elite level.

Whether you want to do karate for fitness, self defence or compete at international level, we will attend to your needs.

The Mackay Karate Centre was established by Sensei Lutie van den Berg, who has been a dedicated karateka since 1970.

A former member of the renowned early bird instructor’s class in South Africa, Sensei Lutie has represented South Africa, New Zealand and Australia at international and World Championship level.

He is a coach for the JKA Australian National Team and a senior instructor for JKA SKC Australasia. ded Go

Ipswich Karate Association

The Ipswich Karate Association began in 2010 with five students and has now grown into a dojo with over 50 enthusiastic, hard training members.

Led by Sensei Jim Dodrill, who has competed and trained with many renowned karate champions and instructors. Jim's passion is to pass on his knowledge and experience to the next generation of karateka.

Ipswich Karate Association also runs a special program for primary school aged students covering: self defence, anti-bullying and gross motor skill improvement.

Central Highlands Karate

Our dojo is headed by Sensei Andrew Jansen (Sandan - 3rd dan) along with Sensei Christel Jansen (3rd dan), who are extremely passionate and commited to learning and growing their knowledge of Shotokan karate.

Senseis Andrew and Christel travel weekly to train with Sensei Lutie van den Berg, as well as attend seminars nationally and internationally including those at the JKA Headquarters in Japan.

Classes are held in Capella, Emerald and Tieri for all ages.nts of all

JKA Brisbane Indooroopilly

Our dojo welcomes students of all ages! Our head instructor Sensei Shaun, started karate 35 years ago in New York, joining the JKA as a teenager. His first class as a beginner was taught by Sensei Masataka Mori (9th dan), a legend in the karate world and one of the founders of JKA karate in North America.

Sensei Shaun has competed in both the USA Nationals and the JKA World Championships representing the USA in both Kata, Kumite, and Team Kumite.

Dysart Dojo  

Dysart Dojo has been operating for 10+ years and caters to all abilities and ages from 6 years up. There is a great family atmosphere with parents and grandparents training with their children.

Dysart Dojo Head Instructor is Allison Kenny who has participated in martial arts since she was a young teenager. Allison is passionate about sharing karate with others.

Classes are available on Tuesdays and Thursdays and there is the opportunity to train in Mackay on Saturdays with JKA-SKC National Coach, Lutie van den Berg Sensei.
